Sometimes you need to take these survivors on a quest to calm them down or to cheer them up to avoid negative consequences. Also, your survivors have some traits and personal skills which affects their behavior and skills in a positive or negative manner. At certain levels, you unlock specializations to further upgrade your characters. Every character has a bunch of skills that can be upgraded by doing a related task (for example, to level cardio, you need to run a lot). Eventually, you can play and upgrade almost every member of the community (with some exceptions). If the current character you are using dies, you lose it permanently, and you have to continue with another member of your community suffering a morale penalty. You don't have a main character, you start with a few which you can switch to control, and with time, you build friendship with the rest, so you can play and upgrade them. to keep building and upgrading your base and also to keep alive the community. In your base you can build a variety of facilities to make your survivor's life easier, to craft items, to defend, etc. You need to build a community which start with a few characters, find a suitable place to establish a base, scavenge resources, items, etc. The note book-like UI is a nice touch and brings some immersion. Some of the zombies and characters look a bit cartoony, but in general they look decent. Graphics are nice, not great, but they are ok for the time of the game. It's really well done, it makes you feel part of the world. The character's voice acting is really nice, the missions dialogues, the random dialogues between characters, etc. The music is awesome, it changes in different situations preparing you for what's coming, and feels really immersive. Sound effects are great, every special zombie has a unique and distinct cry, weapons, cars, combat, common zombies, etc.
